Minutes from Region meeting

State News:

1.  One Chapter Team Tournament.
2.  Voting on one 6 man tournament on Kerr, all regions at one event. Vote due next meeting in Nov.
reason being participation and bigger payout
3.  Mr. Bass/Fall classic at Gaston or Kerr, from what they said this would be a permanent location.

Something to due with South Hill chamber of commerce.

Region news:

1.  Sept 7 cast for Kids @ Leesylvania, region still waiting for event organizers to contact them for help.
2.  Oct 25/26 Fall Classic on the Potomac
3.  Region looking for anyone who may have old wall plaques to be used for youth events.
4.  James Tournament moved due to water fowl hunting season.
New Location: Riverbend park (Rt 5 Bridge) at the Chick Sept 14.

5.  Jan 16 - 18 Richmond Fishing Expo

Now for next years tournament schedule that we need to vote on, region needs the vote submitted before Sept 9. This is due to the fact of booking the tournament dates.

Option 1, which was based by popular vote by all clubs
Anna, Kerr, Chick, Potomac, Gaston, Potomac

Option 2
Kerr, Anna, Potomac, Chick, Potomac, Potomac

Option 3
Gaston, Potomac, Kerr, Potomac, Anna, Chick for the Classic

Some people expressed issues with travel cost, and FFX bass had issues with fishing the same places at the same times every year, which he said some of his members may not participate. But travel and fishing waters that can produce fish was a topic.

The tournament vote needs to be given to Kenny by Sept 9.

There where I think 2 clubs with no representatives at the meeting.

2/29/8

It was good to see everyone last night at the 2008 tournament season kick off meeting for Bandit.  With all members in attendance a lot of club business was accomplished.

Club dues were collected and tournament registration was completed for the fast approaching Lake Anna Region Tournament.

Mr. Bass Team was named - Haynes and Baker

Chapter Team was named – MacClary and Lewis, Haynes and Murray, Baker and Perryman

The registration fees for both Mr. Bass and the Chapter Team Tournaments were provided by Bandit to the captains along with the registration paperwork that has to be mailed to the Federation. Go Bandit.

A club tournament schedule for 2008 was discussed and June 8th on the Potomac was chosen and approved by the quorum for our first club tournament.  Dates for future tournaments were proposed as August 16th or 17th for a one day tournament and October 11th-12th for the two day club classic.  These dates will be finalized at future meetings.  Club tournament rules were proposed and approved by the quorum as follows.  Club tournaments for 2008 will be for fun and cash pot only.  No points will be awarded to members for these club tournaments.  This format is to encourage members to invite guests and prospective members to attend our open club tournaments.  Cost is $20 a man plus $5 each for big fish.  These tournaments will be a draw format, 5 fish per boat, heavy boat wins as a team, and big fish is also a team win.

As always we ran out of time before we ran out of business. The planned review of the Club Bylaws was tabled to the next meeting.

Next Bandit meeting is scheduled for March 30th after the weigh in for the Potomac River Region Tournament.

Membership Drive

Bandit Bass Angler's is currently having a club membership drive.  We are members of Virginia's TBF "The Bass Federation"  in Region 1 (Spotsy to Fairfax).  As a Bandit Bass Angler Federation fisherman you will participate in five 1 day region tournaments and one 2 day Fall Classic.  Additional championship tournaments are available to those who do well in the region tournaments.  Plus there are fish for fun club tournaments for members and their guests.  In our club you choose your partner for all region tournaments.  Region 1 uses a point system to determine ranking and Bandit bases all championship placements on this ranking.  Bandit is only accepting six additional members for the 2008 season.  In 2007 Bandit finished 4th out of twelve Region 1 clubs.  Our club was represented in the Fall Classic, and members cashed checks in several tournaments.  Bandit has historically been a small club, but has decided to step up to midsize with 14 to 16 members. There is strength in numbers and Bandit would like to take this club to a higher level of achievement.  Cost for membership (Federation, Region, and Club), and all tournaments for the year is under $400. If you have ever considered competitive fishing and really enjoy being part of a team then consider joining Bandit.  Send us an email on the 'Contact Us' page.

See you on the water.

A note from Tom Mutton Jr.

As many of you may have already heard, my father, Thomas Mutton passed away on December 19. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in August of this year. He had been receiving radiation and chemotherapy treatments through the fall. About 3 weeks ago, he was diagnosed with pneumonia and landed in the hospital. Due to the combination of the lung cancer and effects from the radiation, he wasn't able to recover from it. We were with him at the hospital when he passed away.

He was a special member of our family and loved very much. He and our mother, Peggy, celebrated their 43 wedding anniversary this past August. Thomas was an avid bass fisherman and golfer and took his role as a grandfather very seriously. We're fortunate that he lived nearby and we were able to spend a lot of time with him. Mom and Dad often joined us on the sidelines of the kid's various sports games and in the audience at the kid's school functions. They joined us for many family vacations and always made the annual trip to Hershey park with us. Dad and I spent countless hours together over the years fishing together. We are fortunate to have so many great memories.

As those of you that knew him can attest to, he sought out fun in everything he did. While he wasn't often serious, he was seriously funny.
